Tour Overview

This is a short, comfortable safari for travellers who want the best of the northern circuit and not many days of it. You see the two most famous places, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, and you stay in three well-known lodges. Explore Jambo Maasai runs it from our office in Arusha, so the vehicle, the flight, the park fees, and the lodges are all handled by one team.

You travel in a private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, with an English-speaking driver-guide. The flight on Day 4 saves about eight hours on the road back to Arusha.

It suits adult couples and friends who travel two to a room. This page shows a standard per person sharing price, and every night has an alternative lodge of the same standard if the first choice is full.

Arusha → Ngorongoro Conservation Area After an early breakfast you drive west through farming villages, about three and a half hours on tarmac, and up the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You check in to a Rim Room at Ngorongoro Lodge, with butler service and views over the largest intact caldera in the world. You rest in the afternoon and have a signature dinner overlooking the rim. Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive to the Central Serengeti

Ngorongoro Crater → Central Serengeti You go down the crater wall early, a drop of about 600 metres, onto the crater floor. It is one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a single morning, with black rhino, buffalo, elephant and black-maned lions. You have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. After lunch you climb out and drive across the highlands and onto the Serengeti plains, about three hours with game viewing on the way. You reach Meliá Serengeti Lodge in the evening, with a Lagoon View room. Dawn Game Drive and Scenic Flight from the Serengeti to Arusha

Seronera → Arusha → Kilimanjaro International Airport You start with a dawn game drive along the Seronera River, when leopards sit in the acacia trees and hyena clans return from their night hunts. After a late breakfast on the terrace, your guide takes you to the Seronera airstrip for a scheduled light-aircraft flight of about an hour, with views over the Rift Valley. The flight saves you about eight hours on the road back. We meet you in Arusha and take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
